Christmas cards

What a great couple weeks it has been.  November is a hectic month in this house.  Marianne's birthday was the first weekend and 3 of the kids in my daycare as well.  We had cake at least once a week this month!!!  Zoé loves to help me bake them.  I had an Epicure party where Zoé won the bingo draw and purchased the kid's bundle, complete with apron and kid's size utensiles.  She is so cute! Today, we made a marble cake for Emily's birthday with...... Maple Syrup boiled frosting!!!  it was sooo tasty!
Besides parties, I am so proud of a decision to clean my scraproom and put some of my stuff in a facebook auction.  It all started when my husband decided that he could not do Movember this year.  I though maybe I could raise a little money by selling some of my scrapbooking overstock and giving 50% to the Tree of Hope campaign.  I had alot more stuff than I had originaly imagined, so I kept placing pictures on my facebook page and taking bids.  So far I've raised close to 200$ and I still have lots of auctions still open.  It's a win/win/win/win situation : I get a cleaner scrapbooking room, Someone gets to make use of great products that I won't use, Money is going to charity and I get to have a little money for some Christmas shopping!  I'll post my grand total once all the auctions are closed after Dec 1st.   To take a look just visit my Facebook group.
This week I've been busy with LCOM online card crop.  I've completed all the card challenges so far, but might to revisit a few in order to finish all my Christmas cards.  Just hope I remember to mail them this year :)  Here are some of the cards I made this week :

Bling card, using Roxie paper, and bling assortments

Vintage feel challenge : using the wooden buttons, the pins from the Bling assortments and Perfect Day paper

Paper layers card : using Beleive paper and stickers.

Snowflake challenge, using Wonderland and Holiday commentary stamps

Filmstrip challenge : using Wonderland paper, bling and Dimentional elements

Die cut challenge : using Elemental paper, and snowflake dimentional elements with silver glitz glitter gel

Rested

Nothing like a good night sleep to put you in a great mood.  Since July, we have made a decision that we were going to live healthier.  I started the Simply for Life diet and am happy to report that I have lost 25 lbs so far.  The greatest benefit is how great I feel.  We recently went on a road trip, my husband and I for our 10 year wedding anniversary, and for the occasion I got to wear my wedding ring again!  It had not fit since before Zoé was born.  I hope to scrapbook those pictures soon, in the meantime, here are some layouts I did over the last weeks, one is from 5 years ago, on our 5 year anniversary road trip to Bar Harbor.  and, I finally got some Christmas layouts done!

Scrappy time

I had the pleasure over the weekend to attend another LCOM crop in Moncton.  What an awesome, talented group of ladies!  My mom also attended and we shared a table.  We got some bonding time, without my kids climbing all over her.  It was very productive!  I got to play with some of the new CTMH paper.  I love them all!  We also had a blast trying out the new Cricut Art Philosophy  cartridge too!  Check out the paper flowers, and the die-cut backgrounds all made with it.  I'm going to have fun exploring it some more... as soon as I find some more scrappy time, hopefully before LCOM next crop in November.

Lucky

I consider myself very lucky.  I have an amazing family.  I am married to the love of my life, my best friend and the best father for my amazing daughters.  When I saw a picture at a crop this weekend of my very handsome husband all by himself in a picture.. I had no choice but to dedicate a scrapbook page to it.  He was just himself, looking at me, and I snapped a picture.  The page is one of the simplest I ever did, but it's complete.  I love it, I love him, it's that simple.

a few more layouts

I just wanted to share a few layouts I finished tonight.  They are both inspired by Creative Scrappers sketches and one of them is another LCOM 28 days of summer challenge.  The challenge was to make a layout about nature.  The picture had to be of an element of nature and no humans are allowed.  Here is what I came up with

Thanks for looking!  See you soon!

First camp fire at home!!

We received a fire bowl for our birthday this year from my in-laws and got to use it tonight.  So relaxing and so much fun.  One last minute trip to the grocery store to get Marshmallows and the kids had a ball roasting them with the neighbors while the adults had a drink.  The weather event cooperated, no rain fell on our party and we even got to see several rainbows.  I have a feeling this birthday gift will be used a lot this summer.

And it's with the smell of bug spray and smoke still clinging to me that I finished this layout.  I dedicate it to some dear friends who are in the process of moving even farther away!  Good luck!!  We miss you!

From LCTS using Basic Grey.  Teh butterfly is CTMH lucky chipboard.  The pearls and ribbon are also CTMH

Summer vacation, week 1

We went last weekend for a long overdue visit to my in-laws in Caraquet.  Although the weather was cold and soggy, the girls still had fun playing with their cousins in Pepere's new huge garage renamed "the play area" for the weekend.  Even Pepere and Papa had fun playing with their remote control machines.  It was great to just relaxe for a weekend, disconnect and catch up on what's going on with friends and family.  We also had the chance to attend a launch party.  A very dear friend of ours and owner of the  Acadie-Broue microbrewery decided to launch his new beer in his hometown of Maisonnette.  If you're ever in the Moncton area, be sure to visit the Laundromat bar for your chance to taste it.  So in all, a great start to summer.  Now, what to do for the long weekend??  for sure, I must put some time aside to scrapbook!

I did not get to do much scrapbooking but I did manage to find a couple hours last night while watching So you think you can dance Canada to complete this one :

I used Basic Grey paper, CTMH ribbon and cardstock.  The pink floweres were made with CTMH ric rac ribbon, and the White flower and scrunched ribbon border were made using ribbon and using the "ruched" technique.

Yay! summer vacation is here!

Well, it's here, Summer vacation.  My daughter brought home a very nice report card, and we are done with classes, including swim class and gymnastics for the summer.  We will be enjoying a nice deserved break.
You would think that now that my daughter can sleep in later, since usually we have to pry her out of bed each morning to catch the bus, she would sleep in later.  In fact, she's up way before the alarm.  Why is that???  You think if I made her think we have an early appointment the next day she would sleep in longer....  I might just experiment with that idea, lol
Despite a busy week, I got to do a couple more LCOM layout challenges.  Here they are :

Day 10 - All tied up! - I had to Tie something up on my layout.  I had started this layout a long time ago, i added the ribbon, the stickers, the title and the pearls and bling

Day 12- Layer it up - The challenge was to layer paper, embellishments and journaling cards- I used EchoPark Summer Days kit

Day 15- Use only stuff from your stash- not allowed to open any new packages of anything.  This one was tough, I used paper that I had received with a Tinkerbell album I purchased 4 years ago.  I also used Creative Scrappers sketch #162

Day 6 - Create a layout using lyrics of a song - I was inspired by a song my Dad wrote to my and my sister a long time ago.  He now sings it to my girls.  I love the final product
Day 16- use only new stuff- I used Echo Park kit Playground along with a new package of CTMH red waxy flax

Well, off to watch Tangle with the girls who are still in their pajamas in the middle of the afternoon!  Gotta love summer vacation!

Happy Solstice

Summer is here!!  And like a little friend told me last week, someone needs to fix the sun. lol.  It seems to be hiding.  I won't wish for warmer weather though.  I might just jinx us into a heat wave.  Don't get me wrong, I like summer, I just tend to like autumn and cooler weather better.

I complete a few more challenges this weekend from LCOM's 28 days of summer.  Here they are :

Challenge : create a layout of yourself using a black and white picture of yourself dating at least 15 years.

Challenge : Create a layout with the title 'Remember when', must have bling and an old embellishment from your scrap inventory - Here is the cover page for my Wedding scrapbook - took me almost 10 years to make, lol

LCOM layout of the month kit.  Star Wars Weekend at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Next challenges are to create a layout with a number in the title, a layout using lyrics from a song, and a layout using twine or ribbon to tie something up on the layout.  Should be fun, why don't you join us??

only 5 days of school left!!

Good morning!

For those that don't know me (and for those that do too i guess),  I'm somewhat of a procrastinator.  I always intend to make things in advance, but most of the time, I find myself doing the task the night before like creating kits for my workshops the night before.  Anyway, I wanted to create something for my daughter's school teachers.  I though I would do it over the weekend so she could give it to them the last week, like we usually do.  Then I find out that one of the teachers won't be there net week!  Yikes!!!  Thankfully, I found a card kit I had bought a while back, I made 12 cards (6 for each) and then created a little box to carry them in.  I really like how they turned out.  Hope they like them!

I completed another challenge this week.  The challenge was called Two by two.  We had to create a page using 2 pattern paper, 2 flowers, 2 blings, 2 journaling spots, 2 pictures and 2 of something else else.  Here is what I came up with.

I'm also excited that one of my layouts was chosen layout of the day on the Lets Capture Our memories Forum! Here is the layout :

Now off to make father's day cards, a full 2 days in advance!!  lol

Forum Challenge

Hello!

I was recently introduced to LCOM by scapbooking friends.  I participated at a couple of their crops in the last couple months and I had a blast. I have now discovered their forum and I think what looks like a new addiction has started!  It all started when I posted my "Pret pour le décolage" layout on their gallery since I had purchased the paper kit from them.  On my birthday, Monday, my layout was selected Layout of the Day!  what a confidence booster!  I'll have to post more!  I also discored their "online Crop" tab in the forum with challenges.  I submitted my first one.  Hope I win!!!  :)  The challenge was to create a layout about a gift you received that you were excited about.  Here is my entry along with a couple Disney layout I completed:
Mon cadeau unique - What do you give a bilogist who's passion is insects for her birthday??  how about a suprise trip to Quebec to buy specimens to add to her collection.  -- I used CTMH Wings collection for this layout

Belle - Another layout I did from my Disney trip.  At the Princess dinner.
Remember this paper kit??  It's been retired for a couple years now, but matches perfectly with Micky Mouse!!

Thanks for viewing, got to go complete another challenge!!  :)

Fanfare

I just realized that I am going to need a HUGE album to fit all the Disney layouts I want to make.  A friend was browsing through my Disney trip album so far and she said, Wow you're almost done!!  And I'm thinking "but I have so much more wonderful memories that I want to scrapbook!  I'm not close to done yet!"  I'm having a blast reliving the memories of our trip.   I attended an LCOM crop on the weekend and I got to complete loads of layouts.  The atmosphere was great and the creative vibes were flowing. I had purchased the CTMH Fanfare Workshop on the Go kit because I knew that Disney pictures would look good in them, but I was pleasantly surprised at how versatile this kit was.   Take a look!
The Electrical parade at Magic Kingdom -CTMH Fanfare paper, CTMH buttonsand a couple Disney stickers

Move it, Shake it, Celebrate it! parade at Magic Kingdom - CTMH Fanfare paper with a couple of Disney stickers and chipboard elements

Swimming at the hotel pool.  CTMH Fanfare paper and I added Echo Park Stickers

Now back to work, I've got more memories to scrapbook!!!  see you soon!

Back to reality

Good morning!

Well, we are back to reality.  After spending 5 nights in Florida, experiencing the magic of Disney and the hot Florida weather, we are back to our normal routine and already planing our next Disney vacation.  Disney World is really a magical place.  It was not my first time there, but it was our first time with the kids and the experience was so magical, it was like going for the first time.  Seeing Disney through the eyes of kids is really the best way to experience Disney World, especially Magic Kingdom.  The girls loved meeting their favorites characters, going on the may rides, and just being surrounded by everything Disney.  Even though we only had 4 days to see the 4 parks, we got to see and do everything on our list.  I got to sit down yesterday and do a couple layout from the many many pictures I got developed over the weekend (thank God for Costco's 10cents a picture sale!!)

Disney - Simple Story Explore kit - sketch by Kristine Davidson

Pret pour le décolage - Simple Story Explore kit - sketch by Kristine Davidson

These 2 layouts were done using Simple Stories products I had purchased from the Explore kit at the LCOM crop last month.   I can't wait to sit down and do more layouts!

the next 3 layouts are layouts I completed using CTMH Sophia  and Sweetheart kits.  They are the layouts we did at the May 15th workshops.  Hope you like them

Dehors- Sophia kit and Sophia WOTG layout
Ma Princesse- Sweetheart kit and Sweetheart WOTG layout
Des Fleurs pour Mémére Jeanne- Sophia kit and Miracle WOTG layout

So that's it for now, I'll post more Disney layouts as I complete them.  So who's coming with us to Disney in 2013??

Inspiration

Where do I find inspiration for my scrapbooking layout?  That question is somewhat easy to answer: my children.  They are so photogenic and I tend to take lots of pictures when I take my camera out, so I usually have lots of material to work with.  I like to look at magazines, the close to my Heart Idea books and I love Jeanette Lynton's how to books (Magic, Imagine and Cherish).  I also look to the internet to find layouts and sketches, like on the pagemaps site.
I also like to look at other Scapbooker's layouts.  I love how at some of my workshops, some take my kits and make something that looks completely different.  I get inspired by other people's work.  I like to take other people's ideas and make it my own.  Here is a layout that  I "scraplifted" from the Close to my Heart Idea book

I also worked on layouts for the May 15th afternoon layout using workshops on the go.  Here are the ones I completed

So what inspires you??

Spring cleaning and an Easter story

Good evening!

I'm Back!  again!  hihi.  I took a little break from scrapbooking and concentrated on my spring cleaning.  My Scrapbooking corner is now in a different corner of the basement and now new and improved!  More shelves, more room, more practical.  All it needs now is a little decor- pictures on the wall and that should be it.  The girls were glad that I did a little purging too since their scrap bin is now full of new paper.

Before I show  you some scrapbooking layout, let me tell you a story about Easter.  Marianne was learning about Easter and death and was asking a lot of questions lately.  When going to my Mom's house for Easter, we passed by the cemetery and I told her that is where her great grandmother Jeanne was buried and Marianne asked to go see.  We located the tombstone but the flower arrangement was in poor shape having spent the winter outdoors.  The girls asked if we could fix it and here is the final results.  The best arrangement in all the cemetary!!
Back in the car, Zoé (who just turned 4 this week!!) looks at her sister and says " When mémére Jeanne's not dead anymore, she's going to really love those flowers!!"  her sister then replies that mémére will stay dead and be in heaven with Jesus and God.  Zoé then asks who God is.  Marianne replies "God is Jesus' dad, A long long time ago, Mary and Joseph really wanted a baby and they tried for a very long time and when it didn't work, God gave them his son"  How cute is that!  I really wished I had a recording!  But it will sure make a nice journaling block for my scrapbooking!

So now I'm back in scrapbook mode just in time for national scrapbook month!  Here are a couple layout I did with the new CTMH You and Me kit available only for the month of May.

I love the colors, the kits come with everything you see in the layout!

I went to a crop this past weekend and I got a lot accomplished so I should have a couple blogs worth of material to work with.  After two full days of scrapbooking for a total of 18 hours, is it normal to want to come home and do more scrapbooking???  See you soon!!
